Joe Biden’s promise of creating a diverse administration is making history. His choice for the members of the cabinet shows his preparedness for the racially broken country through inclusivity. This is evident by the 50% non-white cabinet and cabinet-level nominees lead by Vice President Kamala Harris, the first African and Asian person to hold the position. On the other hand, the former president Obama administration set a cabinet diversity record of 42% of people of color.

Obama fell short of his promises of an inclusive administration as his cabinet was described as too white. In his first term, Obama’s 16-member cabinet was made up of at least 69% of whites, and only one (6%) was an African American.
