How to Stop Proving and Start Improving
Normally, people possess two opposing mindsets which influence how we view our abilities and talents. The mindsets, therefore, affect or personal improvement and careers. The mindsets might work for or against our growth depending on the path one chooses. Generally, individual mindsets define their abilities and, in most cases, determine our success fate.
Psychologists explain that people can fall into the ‘growth mindset’ or the ‘fixed mindset’ categories. The first category believes that an individual will remain who they are and cannot be changed. They argue that someone will retain their in-born attributes as they can never be developed. In contrast, the other category believes that anybody can develop their qualities. People under the latter category believe that abilities can be developed or learned. Fixed mindset characters always want to prove themselves. Such people hate criticism and feedback; they believe that nothing can be done about the situation. Therefore, the ‘fixed mindset’ people tend to opt for less challenging tasks, which will make them feel good and accelerate their success.
