3 Tips on how teach emotional intelligence to kids.
Kids say the darnedest things, because they have no filter. That’s because we raise them up that way, but it’s best to understand where that stems from and how to control it. Every child has some form of emotional intelligence and how they use it depends on how they interact with each other and how we teach them to manage their emotions during a difficult situation.
Emotional intelligence is the ability to identify and manage self-control.
Here are some tips to help with Emotional Intelligence when it comes to youth and how “We” as adult’s can help them understand it.
1. Listen to understand, not to respond: I do this often myself and if you can teach your kids to do the same it will work out best. We all have this boomerang behavior when it comes to automatically reacting when we don’t like something. Children are very sensitive and it’s best we start them out early by teaching them to Listen and then respond, so they can completely understand the question or statement given to them. Once they master that ability, they will be just fine as they grow older with listening.
