10 Reasons to Support D.C Statehood

Residents of Washington have not been getting equal rights economically and politically. The main thing that upsets Washingtonians up to date is the capability of former President Donald Trump to set up the National Guard of the city to destroy a multitude of peaceful demonstrators. Even supposing the Legislative body administers the District’s local undertakings directly, D.C. residents also lack full polling representation in the Legislative body. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton says that Washingtonians can only get equality by supporting D.C. Statehood. Below are reasons to support D.C. Statehood.

The only person allowed to grant leniency to offenders imprisoned under D.C.’S confined laws is the United States’ president. There is only one case of a person known as Alfred Mack who offended the D.C. Code and granted clemency. Mack’s offense was unauthorized supply of heroin. States’ governors can also grant exonerations.

The Exigency Reserve and Backup Reserve are hard to use since Congress has restricted their usage. The money is produced exclusively from local taxes and charges, although the two rainy-day reserves are necessary under national law.
